Making an Appointment

TELEPHONE NUMBERS

SURGERY OPENING TIMES
The receptionists are available at the surgery:-
MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 0800 - 1800

CONSULTATION HOURS
All consultations are by appointment only. The time for doctors' consultations are as follows:-
MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 0830 - 1300 & 1400 - 1800

Each consultation lasts approximately 10 minutes and doctors always try to run on time. However, if a patient has a difficult problem or requires hospital admission during surgery, delays can result. We appreciate your patience should you experience delay.

DISABLED ACCESS
Our premises have been adapted to allow easier access for disabled patients. Shoud you require assistance when entering the premises please use the intercom at the front door and one of our receptionists will be happy to assist you.

ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS
All consultations are by appointment only. Appointments are ten minutes long. Our appointment system requires you to telephone on the day you wish to be seen. Our appointment lines are normally busier between 8.00am and 9.00am and you may experience some delay in contacting the surgery if you phone during this time. Please don't worry if you can't get through straight away as we normally have appointments available throughout the day. If for any reason we cannot offer you an appointment that day we will ask you to call back the next morning.

However, if you feel you need to be seen urgently, the receptionist will request your details and our Triage Nurse will call you back to discuss your problem. She will ensure that you are seen by a doctor if your need is urgent. You will be seen the same day although you may not be able to specify which doctor. These appointments may have to be added to a fully booked surgery and therefore you must expect to be kept waiting.

If you are registered with the Practice, aged between 16 and 74 and have not been seen within the last three years, you are entitled to request a consultation with our Practice Nurse for a health check.

HOME VISITS
Home visits should only be requested for patients who are seriously ill or housebound. It is important to bear in mind that most medical problems are dealt with more effectively in the clinical setting of a well equipped surgery or hospital. If you require a home visit please telephone before 10.00 am. The receptionist will ask for some information about symptoms. This is fully confidential and enables the doctors to determine the priority and timing of visits.

OUT OF HOURS EMERGENCIES Nights/Weekends
Should you require urgent medical advice when the surgery is closed please contact NHS24 tel. no. 08454 24 24 24 and your symptoms will be assessed by a nurse. If the nurse decides that you require contact with a doctor the details of your consultation will be sent to our local Out of Hours service. However, in cases of emergency please dial 999.

If you would like further information about NHS24 please visit their website on www.nhs24.com

Should you have any complaints about services provided during the out of hours period please contact Primary Care Services, NHS Tayside, Ashludie Hospital, Monifieth DD5 4HQ Tel. No. 01382 423000

FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS
As with routine appointments please telephone the surgery on the day you need to be seen.

CANCELLATIONS
Appointments are valuable to our surgery, especially for patients who need to be seen urgently and patients are expected to attend their appointments at the arranged time. You have a responsibility to attend pre arranged appointments and failure to attend means that the appointment and the doctor's time is wasted.

Should you be unable to keep your appointment please inform us as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment to another patient.

TELEPHONE ADVICE
There may be times when you need to speak to the doctor for advice. A doctor is normally available to speak with patients between 1030am and 1100am Monday - Friday, except Tuesday when you should phone between 1100am - 1130am.
