The Practice Team


PRACTICE MANAGER
Ann McGuckin M.B.A., M.I.H.M.

Our Practice Manager is responsible for the management and administration of the Practice and the staff. She is happy to receive any suggestions you may have for improvements to the services we currently provide. If you have experienced problems with any aspect of the services we provide, please discuss them with her, she will do her best to help.
 
RECEPTION / ADMINISTRATION STAFF
Our reception staff have a demanding job and their aim is to provide an efficient and friendly service. Please remember that if you need to be kept waiting or seem to be asked one or two personal questions, they are carrying out our policy which is aimed at making the Practice run smoothly.
 
PRACTICE NURSES

Our Practice Nurses work closely with the Doctors and can give help or advice on a variety of problems. They carry out a wide range of procedures and run their own specialist clinics providing care and support to:

  • Diabetic, Asthmatic, Stroke and Hypertensive patients
  • Patients who suffer from heart disease or respiratory disease

 

You can make an appointment to see the Practice Nurses without seeing your doctor first for the following services:
 

  • Ear syringing
  • Injections
  • Blood samples
  • Post natal examination
  • Contraceptive advice
 
PRACTICE PHARMACIST
Our Pharmacist works closely with the doctors to address areas of prescribing concerns. From time to time you may be invited to attend an appointment with the Pharmacist to discuss your medication.
 
DISTRICT NURSES
Our team of District Nurses cover all aspects of nursing care in the home. They have a wide variety of nursing experience that ensures our patients receive a high standard of care.

Messages are checked regularly throughout the day.
 

HEALTHCARE SUPPORT WORKERS

Our Healthcare Support Workers are available by appointment only and provide the following services:

  • Blood samples
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Measure height, weight
  • New patient health checks
  • Healthy eating advice
  • ECGs
  • Active for Life referrals
  • Over 75's health checks
  • Flu vaccinations
 
COMMUNITY MIDWIFE
Our Community Midwife helps the doctors to provide care during and after pregnancy. She runs a weekly clinic in the Practice and is available by appointment only.
 
MEDICAL STUDENTS
We are involved with the education and training of medical nursing students. We should be grateful if you would accept them as part of the Practice. You will always be asked if you wish the student to be present during your consultation, so please do not be afraid to object.
 
HEALTH VISITORS
Our team of Health Visitors are experienced nurses with a specialist qualification in Community Health Nursing. They are available to provide advice and support to patients of all ages within the Practice on a wide range of health issues.

They may be contacted by telephoning 819410 (answering machine) Monday to Friday. Messages are checked twice daily.
